Jupiter into Cancer and Uranus into Gemini

What a time we have truly chosen to be here! Saturn moved into Aries on 24th May this year, with Jupiter following suit less than three weeks later, moving into the Cardinal Water ruled sign of Cancer on 9th June. Within days of Saturn moving into Aries, which is ruled as we know, by Mars, God of War, we had a huge increase in global unrest, most notable of which was the Madleen Freedom Flotilla setting off from Sicily on the first of June literally nine days later to bring humanitarian aid to Gaza and break the blockade. Watching how it all unfolded, exactly as I had expected astrologically, was fascinating.

This trip by 12 activists (which included a now 22-year-old Greta Thunberg) was planned and happened not long before the recent Mars Uranus square, which was exact the weekend of the 14th June, and the very day after Israel bombed Iran.

Saturn moving into Aries did, as I predicted, play out in the collective anger saying, “We have had enough and are now taking matters into our own hands”. Hence the subsequent march to Gaza via Egypt which was unsuccessful. As I write this, there are also apparent plans for Malaysia to send 100 ships of various types to Gaza to break the blockade.

We are on the threshold of a possible World War III for sure. We all forget that both previous World Wars started in Europe, not on other continents. The collective anger is now totally fearless.

And Jupiter moved into Cancer barely six days before the Mars Uranus square. So, what is the main theme of Jupiter in Cancer? Home. Yes – home. It really is that simple. What is the core issue behind Ukraine war and Gaza and war in so many other countries. The theme is – of course – “This land is my home” versus “No, this land is my home”. All wars are fought around the themes of love/sex, money and/or territory. Egypt decided “No you are not using our land to cross to in order to get to someone else’s land,” eg. Gaza.

Put all three themes together and you have a terrifyingly explosive mix.

Us Irish, after all, know rather a lot about being occupied, having been occupied by the Brits for over 800 years.

And yes, Uranus moving into Gemini is ensuring that technology is being used more and more to spread images worldwide of the horrors of not just Gaza, but now also Iran, not to mention the recent ICE raids in Los Angeles.

As I write this Germany is now also severely suppressing freedom of speech in relation to Palestine. The Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights has stepped in and spoke out against this. Interestingly, the current Commissioner is Dr. Michael O’Flaherty, an Irish human rights lawyer, and like Rima Hassan, his appointment in January 2024 is also relatively recent.

We have also seen general all round amazing guy and U2 frontman (yes, I am biased in this!) Bono attend the Cannes Film Festival with several Ukrainian soldiers in full unform, alongside Sean Penn.

Music and art are becoming highly political again, and not before time. In a way that we haven’t seen since the days of punk rock all the way back to the late seventies. Which was now over 50 years ago, half a century (I was more of a “Saturday Night Fever” and Emmylou Harris and Bob Dylan fan in those days!).

It is no coincidence that six of the activists on board the Madleen were French – France has long had a strong history of being a country with a strong social conscience. What was also fascinating to see was the order in which the 12 activists were then released from being held hostage. Contrary to what I expected, some of the most vocal and visible were released first, including Greta Thunberg. The first four to be released signed papers they did not want to sign, for personal reasons. Fair enough.

Then Rima Hassan was released. What a woman, born into a refugee camp in Neirab, near Aleppo, Syria, and now aged 33. And a member of the European Parliament to boot. She has been an MEP for barely a year yet has already achieved so much through her mere presence and fiery determination. Natally she is Mars trine Pluto, a symbol of fearless courage despite those planets being in water signs. How fitting for someone sailing across the Mediterranean from Sicily. She was back protesting in the European Parliament chambers within days of her release. After of course, attending marches in France, many of which garnered number exceeding 150,000.
Decades ago, we used to routinely march in so many countries in protest against governments’ inactivity. Marches work folks. Marches produce results. As do emails and Instagram messages to local government representatives. Instagram now means we can protest to governments other than those simply in our country of either residence or birth. Which make the protesting even more effective.

Greta Thunberg said not long after her release “The world needs more angry young 22 year old women.” It so does. The other notable thing about this incredibly courageous sailing voyage was the strong female presence aboard. No one sex dominated the other.

And as for Thiago Avila. This guy embodies Gandhi and Mother Teresa combined.

Along with the Dalai Lama while we are at it.

The other by now forgotten event was the recent election of the very first American born pope. Pope Leo the 14th. Everyone commented on his choice of name. And he’s a treble Leo himself (Pluto conjunct Jupiter in Leo along with Uranus in Leo – powerful combinations in themselves). This is a Pope not afraid to go straight to the very depths of the underworld. Pope Leo the 14th’s first words were of peace and continue to be so. Before even being inaugurated, he was already offering the Vatican for peacekeeping talks behind the scenes between Russia and Ukraine. As we don’t have his birth time, his Moon could be either in Virgo or Leo. One way or the other he is both a treble Virgo and a treble Leo, a remarkable combination in itself. His Moon could be in either sign. Interestingly enough, despite birth times being recorded on most birth certs in the USA (including Chicago Illinois – his state of birth), his birth time has yet to be revealed.

For peacekeeping talks are indeed often held behind the scenes. Those of you old enough will remember the years of peace negotiations in Northern Ireland after the ceasefire.

In effect the two social planets changing sings within three weeks of each other has led to an immediate increase in social conscience and responsibility, as I fully expected. It is also however causing us to all have a deeper than usual longing for home, wherever and whatever that may symbolise. Some of us may find ourselves wishing to suddenly return to our main country of origin, a theme I have seen play out in clients recently, I have also experienced clients saying “You know what – I won’t relocate just yet, I’ll stay put for now.”
And that is indeed also fine for now.

Or we may find ourselves wishing a deeper connection with those of around us. Whether that be in our immediate family, or with friends. It can also play out in our local community. Here in Vibo, Calabria where I now live, I have found myself movingly overwhelmed by the number of kind Italians who have said “Here is my number, ring me if you need anything.” And yes, they really, really mean it! Ireland used to be like that.

Ireland hasn’t been that kind for longer than I can remember.

So, I have found myself making friends in the most motley of places. The local launderette, the local phone shop, the local gelato shop (one of many I must confess!) the local taxi driver who self-appointed himself as my “go to person” for so many things. For which I have been so profoundly grateful.

You too can bring this gently nurturing into your lives dear readers. You too can stop the phone scrolling and talk to the person at the table beside you in your local café. It is how I made two new friends in my local launderette. You too can chat to the lady in your local phone shop. My deepest and most supportive connections, many of whom are still being established and deepened here in Vibo have almost all manifested this way.

This blog is shorter than usual as I wanted to get it out before Uranus moved into Gemini on 7th July. My next blog post will cover more of the Uranus in Gemini energy as for now I just can’t keep up with world events! I want to wait and see what has unfolded between the Solstice and 7th July, when Uranus moved into Gemini. Both on the world stage and in my own life and the lives of my beloved clients, friends and family worldwide.

So do go forth and have those heartfelt Jupiter in Cancer emotional conversations folks. And be eclectic and authentic while you are at it (Uranus in Gemini remember!)
