The Descendant in our natal birth chart symbolises others who we bring into our lives – in other words, our shadow selves – and so it makes sense to pay close attention to our relocated Descendant!
The Descendant rules the seventh house in our birth chart which is why this house is often referred to as the house of “open enemies”!
These are often our partners, friends, or long term lovers, but this category can also include our colleagues and clients. We all know, that we don’t always get to choose our colleagues. And – particularly if you are starting out in business – you may not be able to choose the right clients either.
Often the professional associates we most clash with are in our lives for us to learn lessons we may be reluctant to embody.
A shift in who we attract
Our relocated Descendant will create a substantial shift in who we attract into our lives, whether consciously or unconsciously.
If our natal Descendant is Leo, then the Sun is our filter, and we often bring larger than life “others” into our lives.
If our Descendant were to shift to Scorpio in a new location , then Pluto would become our new Descendant ruler, and we may find we bring deeply private people into our lives. There may be times when that is exactly what we need, whether we realise it or not!
Planets on the Descendant angle will then also flavour the energy around us. If the Moon is angular on the relocated Descendant, then there will also be an underlying theme playing out of wanting to feel at home and nurtured in our chosen new location.
So a relocated Descendant in Sagittarius combined with an angular Moon may play out in having a larger than life set of friends who nurture us by inviting us everywhere. Which may, again, be exactly what we need at that particular point in our life.
A relocated Sun in the sixth house when conjunct the Descendant, can make us more of a workhorse as the sixth house symbolises day to day routine. Maybe that is what you are looking for? To have a greater sense of routine around “others” in your life.
As always, the aspects our birth chart planets make to the four angles of our relocated birth chart gives us clues as to how our life may play out in a new location.
If we have Venus trining our relocated Descendant in our astrocartography map, then, because a trine represents a powerful flow of energy, we may indeed feel more valued by others in our new location. Our finances may well flow better.
But if Venus is squaring our relocated Descendant, then the opportunity to feel more valued or earn more money is still there. As a square represents constant effort, then there will indeed be far more effort involved. But the opportunity is still there.
Neptune ruling our Descendant in a new location may mean we attract others into our life who help us manifest our greater vision. If we are going through a Neptune transit while relocating, this divine help may play out in several ways. As Neptune can also represent illusion, we may attract others who over promise to us and then disappear.
The timing of relocation matters!
This is why I always advise clients to take extra care if relocating during a Neptune transit! Sometimes the purpose of a Neptune transit is to put the dream in place, to write, paint, visualise several times over before deciding to relocate.
One thing you can do to help this manifestation is to embody Neptune where you currently live. You can learn to paint, or if that feels too much, you can always start small and buy a portable sketch pad along with some pens.
Or create a vision board for that which you wish to manifest in the coming years. We need to work with the planets to embody and evoke and support the changes we want.
Life is so much easier if we embrace those who symbolise the Descendant in our lives. We can let go of “others” who we have outgrown – they are often the people in our current lives who don’t want us to grow and change.
Which is why we do, frequently, need to change our day to day environment and move to a more supportive environment. Wee don’t have to relocate for ever – a judicious relocation even for a few weeks can be really invigorating!
