Are you ready for Saturn in Pisces and the restructuring it will bring?
Saturn, the much-maligned planet which represents discipline, routine and structure, moves into the mutable water sign on Pisces on 7/8th March, depending on where you are in the world.
Unfortunately, Saturn gets a really bad press. Many of us shiver in horror at the thought of the dreaded “Saturn Return” which is when Saturn returns to its natal place in our chart every 28-30 years.
Your Saturn Return
Your Saturn return is a time of growing up and taking on real world responsibilities. Which, we very much have to do all over again at the age of 58! Often our children have grown, and we may have the funds to retire, but we can’t quite decide what to do with the remainder of our lives.
So yes, we do indeed need to restructure, which often means downsizing our house and moving to a different location.
I was told several years ago that “How you do one thing, is how you do everything”. Which on reflection, is a representation of Saturn.
I tend to have a very Jupiterian view of life, often taking on too many projects or over-expanding. Through the lens of astrology, I have learnt to be less like that and – even though Saturn is the focal point of my Yod, which means infuriatingly redoing the same task over and over – I have learnt to be grateful for what I learn along the way.
So Saturn can represent the fact that it would be best to do lots of day-to-day things, quietly adding order and ease to our lives.
I truly believe that when you master Saturn in your natal chart, your life does indeed slowly begin to transform. For Saturn is also all about patience, like the gardener planting daffodils in mid Winter, knowing they will eventually bloom in Spring. There is, in fact, true freedom in discipline. The satisfaction of finishing your day knowing you stepped up and did the best you could.
Saturn and the pandemic
Saturn was conjunct Mars Jupiter and Pluto (which was in Capricorn) at the start of the pandemic – circa 17th March 2020 – when the whole world went into lockdown. Saturn moved quietly into Aquarius on 21st March and then moved back into Capricorn during its retrograde period from 1st July until 17th Dec 2023, bringing with it feelings of scarcity and totalitarianism.
Saturn moved back into Aquarius on 17th December 2020 and was subsequently in Aquarius during most of the pandemic years.
A time when technology was quietly brought to the forefront of our lives – apps for this, apps for that, tracker alerts for Covid, two step authentification everywhere.
This quietly became and still is, now our norm.
How will Saturn in Pisces change things?
Pisces is ruled by Neptune, so we can expect to see human consciousness evolve to an even higher level. A predecessor to Pluto moving into Aquarius which is the subject of my next blog post.
There is a strong combination of Neptunian and Martial energy the day Saturn actually moves into Pisces, as we also have the Sun, Neptune and Mercury in Pisces, which represents mutable water.
We also have Chiron conjunct Jupiter and Venus – all in in Aries – which will bring an electric feeling around healing. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself thinking, “I can just drop this and move on”.
We don’t always get closure around our wounds. We are conditioned to think we can’t move on unless we do, but that is not actually true.
We will see the start of a collective shift towards a more cooperative way of living. There will be a greater move towards rules and ways of working that benefit the collective, such as a growth in farmers markets and co-working centres. You’ll even see this in banking, where we can expect a definite move towards cooperative small banks and credit unions where you can still meet and negotiate face to face.
Already, in Portugal, I have seen a huge growth in collective communities, where you can rent a room, eat communally and have on-site access to regular alternative therapies. Which is a far more holistic and healing way of living than many of us are used to!
It’s striking how many of my clients are drawn from and to the holistic therapy community, tapping into this energy that is becoming so powerful in our world!
